HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) is part of the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for managing all prison and probation services across England and Wales. Being part of the prison and probation service means you will have opportunities across the entire department.

A Service Leaver in your last 12 months of service or in your agreed resettlement window.
A UK Armed Forces Veteran within 5 years of leaving at the point of application – applies to both employed and unemployed Veterans.
The spouse or legal partner, of either of the above.

What can AIJ offer me?

An opportunity to defer your start date if you are still in your transition period, to align with your service leaving date.
A two-year fixed-term contract, with an opportunity to move to permanency after completing one year in post.
To support your resettlement, we offer generous home-to-work travel expenses, if you live within 75 minutes of your base working location, or up to £12k relocation expenses if you live more than 75 minutes away and are willing to move for the role.
Access to a range of support networks and a 'buddy' when you first start in post.

*Operational grades within prisons operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and you will be expected to work on some public and bank holidays. Any that you do work will be added to your annual leave entitlement.
